AfriTech Organic Leather’s innovation has been widely recognized for its transformative impact on sustainable leather processing and circular economy solutions in Tanzania. Our pioneering organic tanning technology—derived from agricultural waste—has not only addressed environmental challenges but also demonstrated the potential for locally developed, eco-friendly industrial chemistry.

In 2020, our prototype was awarded the prestigious Best Innovation Award during the Tanzania National Innovation Competition (MAKISATU). This accolade acknowledged the breakthrough potential of our eco-tanning solution in reducing chemical pollution, supporting SMEs, and promoting greener manufacturing systems. The award marked a major milestone, positioning AfriTech as a national leader in green industrial innovations.

Our commitment to scientific rigor and commercialization was further strengthened in 2022, when the innovation was officially granted Utility Model No. TZ/U/2022/00003. This intellectual property protection validates the uniqueness of our improved tannin extraction apparatus and method, securing AfriTech’s competitive advantage as the first company in Tanzania to develop an organic tanning technology backed by registered IP.
